Monday Musings 4 November 2019

11/4/2019

Comments

I'm not sure where the time went! I think I've missed a week somewhere, but nothing I can do about it now! I'm just going to blame Mercury wrecktrograde and call it good! Not a lot of time for updates uproars and upchucks this week as I've got the wordy muse busy with two projects and the muddy muse full of ideas in the studio—never mind the herby muse wanting her say and the knitty muse demanding some time!
This week's offering is going waaaaaaaaaay back to the beginning, with the first oracle I ever used, the Medicine Cards by Jamie Sams and David Carson. You guys know the drill by now. What will this week bring to you? Monthly forecast? Weekly forecast? Daily forecast? It's up to you, you know the drill! Pick the one that calls to you, then read the reveal in the comments for a mini-reading for the week ahead, or read them all as a story-telling spread. Your reading, Your call. I'm just the messenger.
Picture
LEFT: Elk
Elk is a reminder to pace yourself, and if this is your card for the week ahead, then it is telling you that you cannot do it all so don't try. You may have taken on too many commitments or trying to accomplish too much in too short a time; slow down. Seek help from those who are in your clan, those you consider to be your sisters and your brothers. Realign yourself with your natural pace. The world will wait, I promise.
RIGHT: Squirrel
No, this isn't a card about distraction, or at least, not for the main part, but then, being prepared is part of not getting distracted. If you chose this as your card you're being advised to plan ahead. Remember, it wasn't raining when Noah built the ark! Squirrel is telling you to honor the past by preparing for the future. Downsize, declutter, do whatever you need to get ready to gather in a new harvest, one that is more suitable to your current path. You can prepare for any event at any given time when you're not being distracted by things that are insignificant in the grand scheme of things.
RIGHT: Frog
In many traditions, frog represents the element of water, and of course water makes up much of our own physical being. We're drawn to the sea and linked to the tides and if we get too dehydrated we do not thrive. The element of water is also associated with feelings and emotions, and if Frog is your card for the coming week he is asking you to get in touch with your feelings and to use the cleansing power of water to rid yourself of any muddy emotions so that you can feel clean and whole again. Any person, place, or thing in your life that is not part of the solution could well be the part of the problem.

I'm Baaaaaaack...

It's been a bit of a wild ride these last ten weeks and I wasn't even sure whether or not to keep doing the Monday Musings but I had a bit of a kick up the arse one way or another with regards to a few things and so here I am ha ha, invading your week once again. Besides, the Halloween Oracle by Stacey Demarco is a fantastic little deck and only gets to come out to play once a year; who am I to deprive it of its joy?
So, what will this week bring to you? Monthly forecast? Weekly forecast? Daily forecast? It's up to you, you know the drill! Pick the one that calls to you, then read the reveal in the comments for a mini-reading for the week ahead, or read them all as a story-telling spread. Your reading, Your call. I'm just the messenger.. I'm still offering private readings, too, so if you want to know a little more about what the universe has in store for you, hit me up. "I'm here to help."
Picture
LEFT: Dawn
If this is your card for the upcoming week, it's telling you that it's time for a fresh start. Now, take this with a bit of a grain of salt, for we're on a waning Moon and gearing up for Mercury wrecktrograde. This may sound like a bit of a contradiction, but it really isn't. All those plans that you have put on the back burner? Now is the time to drag them out and to review and revise them, tweak and tickle them, and start getting them ready to launch. You're soon going to be entering into the time of newness, but for now—just like the dawn that this card represents—it's time to open your eyes and see what needs to be done, so that you can begin your new venture with clarity and light.
MIDDLE: Werewolf
Wildness? Experience wildness? Wadafuq that mean? Well, if you chose this card for the week ahead, it's asking you to let your hair down a bit. Maybe you've been a bit too reserved, a bit too focused on what someone else might think, a bit too concerned for the opinions of others. Here's the thing; if you know anything about werewolf lore, you'll know that the man fights the change for as long as he can, but the change is inevitable, and he sooner or later has to yield to the evolution and go with the flow. The change is triggered by the light of the full Moon; maybe it's time you let in the light! If you've been struggling with something, trying to make it fit, it's time to stop. Let it be what it's meant to be. Let it change you the way that you were meant to change. After all, change is the only constant in the universe. Let the vitality of this changing energy bring you the freedom your soul seeks.
RIGHT: Winter
Yeah, we all know that winter's coming, it's all the cycle of change, and it's interesting how this has come up twice—three times if you consider that starting something new is also a part of change. The winter card is telling you to lay down what is dying, to surrender what no longer works, and if this is the card you have selected then it's time to exhale and let go. Anything that no longer serves a purpose in your life—whether it's an emotional burden, an outdated philosophy, a worrying or stressful situation, or physical clutter in your home—it's time to purge. Just like the trees allow the winter winds to strip them bare so that they can start anew in spring, it is time to allow yourself to be stripped of what is not empowering you, so that you can open yourself to be filled with all things new.

What a busy week! Today's Monday Musings are brought to you by the Eight Coins Tattoo Tarot, simply because that's the one I have been working with this last few days.
Picture
LEFT: Four of Pentacles
Kind of looks like some weird goth bong, doesn't it?! If this is your card for the week, it's showing you that you can have too much of a good thing. It's reminding you that your actions—and your lack of action, for that matter—have a ripple effect that will ultimately influence others in some way, even if it is only to change their mind about you. You may be working hard toward what you perceive to be your goals, but what is it costing you in the end? Hanging onto things—and people—too tightly does not endear you to them nor does it guarantee that they will always be there. In fact, hanging on too tightly suffocates the life out of things and relationships for without energy there is just a carcass, and energy has to keep flowing and moving so that it does not stagnate. Open your mind to new ideas and possibilities of how things might evolve and as the 38 Special put it so well, hang on loosely. Clinging too tightly is just as bad as not hanging on at all.
MIDDLE: Six of Wands
Interestingly enough, this is another card about hard work and high rewards, but there's no hanging on tightly here. The figure in the card is sitting tall and proud. She's worked hard for what she's gained and she knows it, and makes no apology for feeling accomplished about what she's done. If you chose this card, then it is an encouraging sign that you will get where you want to go and you will feel satisfied with what waits you at the journey's end. Look gain at the image on the card. Yes, she's proud. Yes she's accomplished. She's also grateful for what has come into her path in order that she has attained this success and been well rewarded for it. As well as being a reminder that you are on the right track, this card is also a caution to you not to forget the helpers that have assisted you along your way. The road to abundance is not paved with gold, it is lined with gratitude.
RIGHT: Three of Cups
I perceive this card as one of the happy omens in the tarot. After the melee of discord that the planetary retrogrades have imposed on us, it's nice to see that there is a reason to celebrate something! In keeping with the other two cards, this is a reminder that there is always something to celebrate. If this is the card you chose for the week ahead, it's asking you to take time to celebrate everything that comes your way, and take nothing for granted. There's joy in the rain as well as the sunshine, particularly at the end of a hot day. There's happiness in every breath if you just take the time to marvel at this thing called life, and see it as a mystery to be explored rather than a problem to be solved. Mindset is everything—but that gets into neuroreceptors and the Law of Attraction, and those are different topics for other times.

Monday Musings 15 July 2019

This week's Monday Musings are brought to you by the second summer addition to my tarot library, the Herbcrafter's Tarot, from Latisha Guthrie and Joanna Powell Colbert. It's an intriguing deck, with daughters, warriors, mothers, and healers replacing the more familiar court cards of page, knight, queen and king. The suits are air, earth, fire, and water; which easily relate to the usual swords, pentacles, wands, and cups of the Rider Waite tarot. I find the deck intriguing, and I'm looking forward to getting to know it better. There is much here that resonates with my journey deeper into smudge and smudging, and I like the way things are evolving.

Ace of Water, Plantain:
No, this is not the plantain you see in the produce section of the grocery store. This is the garden weed, and one that I actually welcome in my lawn. The young leaves are edible and the seeds can be ground into a flour to add protein and vitamins to pancakes and other culinary delights. The leaves take the itch out of bug bites and the smoke from the leaves is soothing for bronchial ailments.  If this is your card for the week, it is asking you to slow down to the speed of life, and pay attention to what ails you. This may be a physical discomfort, an emotional burden, or a worry that you cannot seem to shake, Whatever it is, if it is standing in your way of wholeness, it is time—as my smudge pots advocate—to let that shit go. Nourish your soul and trust your own innate wisdom. You know more than you think you do. The solution always sleeps in the same bed as the problem. Quieten your mind and open your heart; plantain reminds you that you already have the answer.
Adelita of Water, Ocotillo:
I admit it, I'd not heard of this one—but then it is a native to Arizona and I've never been there! Ocotillo lays fairly dormant until waterfall and then bursts forth with life. It's a master at conserving water, and a magnet for hummingbirds and other wildlife. If you chose this as your weekly message, it's telling you to pay attention to your emotions. There is a lot of emphasis on diet these days, but diet isn't just about the food you eat. It is also what you absorb from the media, from your environment, and from the people in your life. Ocotillo is asking you to reflect on where you feel emotional imbalance and see if you can find the root of it, so that you can bring that out into the open and find your center and your wholeness once more.  You cannot control what other people do but you can control your response to their actions. There's a big difference between a reaction and a response;  Ocotillo reminds you that learning how to respond from your authentic self is the real secret to mastering your life.
Ace of Air, Yarrow:
I adore yarrow and have a yarden full of it! Mostly white, but there is some pale pink and some yellow in there, too. Yarrow has a long history associated with folklore and herbcrafting, and it is said to be ruled by Venus and associated with the element of water. If you selected yarrow as your card then the message for the upcoming week is to pick your battles carefully. Not everything is as important as you might think. Know when to stand and fight, and when to just shrug your shoulders and move along. Use discernment carefully, and make sure that you have all the facts before you act, for there may be some innocent false information around you, perhaps even some deception. Again, your heart knows the answers, but perhaps you don't trust your judgement or you're up against some obstacles who are trying to steal your confidence. Yarrow is a powerful ally when it comes to growth and personal evolution. Follow your truth, starting with what you already know, then gently push yourself out of your comfort zone.

Monday Musings 8 July 2019

Missed a week last week, but it was not my fault. The internet dropped shortly after my morning stroll and didn't come back until the wee hours of Tuesday morning. Did you miss me?
This weeks Monday Musings are brought to you by The Illustrated Herbiary, by Maia Toll. I picked it up because it went well with me starting to work with the herbs again. I love the artwork and the messages. I just wish there had been proper cards, rather than the 'tear out' perforated pages at the back of the book that reminded me of buying cereal with Sugar Sugar by the Archies on the back just so I could have the record!
It's been a busy month in the skies so far, and there are more 'goodies' yet to come! There was a solar eclipse on the 2nd and Mercury turned retrograde yesterday (and boy, howdy, did it ever), This week, we've got a couple of challenging inconjuncts on today (the 8th) between Sun and Jupiter, and the again on the 16th between Venus and Jupiter. Saturn poses some difficulties on the 9th with the Sun and the 17th with Venus. The Sun opposite Pluto could also brings some temper tantrums on the 14th; remember, anytime Mercury is retrograde, patience is your friend!

There are some good aspects around though. The Sun and Neptune play particularly nicely together on the 11th, and there's a Lunar eclipse on the 16th that could bring interesting juju your way if you tap into those awesome energies. Of course, all of this is just what colors the situation; how you use any of this energy is up to you!

Picture
Left: Plantain
How interesting that in this Mercury retrograde period, the first card out of the deck was a 're' word card; rewild. If this is your card for the week it is time to remember—another great 're' word—where you came from, and what your ancestors did without some of the modern conveniences that you enjoy, perhaps even take for granted. If you've chosen this card for the coming week, it's asking you to get back to basics. Plantain is a fantastic herb when it comes to drawing out splinters and infections; what does it need to draw out of you so you can find your way back to wholeness? Connect with that childlike wonder that filled your youth, before life got in the way and you were told who you were supposed to be. Pull out what is stuck, and let wholeness and freshness replace what is keeping you trapped in an illusion of pain and disappointment.
Middle: White Willow
Many people—myself included—look at the arching and sweeping willow trees and see grace and beauty. The next door neighbors had one that swooped and whooshed along the lawn when I was a child and I was fascinated by the way that it shimmered and danced. However, don't let the elegance of the willow fool you; for the roots go down deep, searching for water, and they don't care what stands in their way. If this is your selection, it's reminding you—another 're' word—to work with your feelings rather than trying to dismiss them, and this is quite appropriate with the Sun being in Cancer just now. You might want to start a little water ritual, even if it is only mindfully drinking a glass of water before your morning meal. Between the Sun passing through Cancer and the retrograde planets, you may feel your emotions frazzling and wearing thin. Willow will help you to recognize—there's the 're' again—what are your own feelings and what you're picking up from others. More than that, though, it's a reminder to let those emotions flow; still waters may run deep, but they also breed mosquitoes!
Right: Sweet Violet
Violet is asking you to be true to yourself, and reminding you it's okay to keep parts of yourself that are private, and hidden from others. If this is your card for the week, it's a reminder you don't have to share everything—and with Mercury retrograde, it's probably just as well you do not, lest your words be misunderstood or their meaning be misconstrued. I once saw a quote that said to learn yourself one truth at a time. Violet asks you what lives in your spirit that is yours and yours alone—or maybe shared with just those who are closest to you? Don't just think for a few seconds then answer, but rather, dismiss the first few things that come into your head and dig deeper this week. This retrograde is a fabulous time for reflection, revision, reviewing, and all those other 're' words that take us past the mask that we present to the world, and deep into our inner psyche. Remember—there's that word again—that knowing yourself is the greatest gift you can give to yourself.

Monday Musings 24 June 2019

Comments

Where the hell is summer? Or, perhaps more pressing, where is the time flying? Seems like it was only yesterday that my friend and I were talking about walking Hadrians Wall, and now in less than 3 months we'll be on our trek. Ooh er!

Today's Monday Musings uses the Crystal Ally Cards, by Naisha Ahsian. One reason I like this deck is because if a particular stone card speaks to you, it's quite possible you could get that stone and carry it with you as a reminder of the message or the lesson. It's also  good chance to plug a very special offer for a crystal reading, which is only going to be available this time around until the 30th of June.

I'm just the messenger.. I'm still offering private readings, too, so if you want to know a little more about what the universe has in store for you, hit me up. "I'm here to help."

Picture
Left: Prayer, Fulgurite.
I'm not surprised this one appeared with the storms that we've been having! I've got to admit that fulgurite is one of my favorite things on the planet. It's a glass tube that is formed when lightning hits sand. How cool is that? If this is your card for this week, it's calling you to weather the storm. Don't fight the forces of nature. Let the things that are happening in your life mold you and change you. Use your energy to rise with the storm. Remember that your words are carried on  your breath and  your breath gives you life, so speak your ideas into being and then follow them up by taking action to make them manifest. A prayer without action is just a wish. Now is not the time to wimp out. There are some things you can only learn in a storm. Let it clear the air and empower you.
Middle: Sugilite, Dreams
Before you were even born, your heart's desires were placed deep in your psyche to lead you to your highest happiness, you greatest success, and your deepest fulfillment. The discord you experience in your life happens when you are out of harmony with those desires. If you chose this card for the week then it is asking you to slow down to the speed of life and get back in touch with those dreams. You may not be able to walk away from everything that brings you down just yet, but you can take steps right here, right now, to take you closer to what you want to be doing, so you don't feel quite so stuck in what you have to do. Start doing what you love, little and often, and let the universe know that you're listening. You will not be disappointed, but—as I said above—you have to harness those desire and be prepared to act on them, or they'll be destined to stay a wish, tantalizingly just out of reach.
Right: Spirit, Danburite
In a crystal reading, danburite signifies joy and celebration. If this is your card for the upcoming week then it is asking you to find reasons to be cheerful, part one, two, and three. It's a message that there is always something to be thankful for, always a kernel of light in every situation, even if you have to wade through the mud to see it. It's asking you to look for what cannot be seen, which may sound like an oxymoron, but it is there and you will find it. Start to see yourself as the co-creator of your own reality, rather than a victim of your circumstances. Try keeping a gratitude journal, and practicing random acts of kindness. When you make a conscious effort to look on the bright side, you start to train the neuroreceptors in your brain to seek out information to support that decision. Start right here, right now, and find three things to be thankful for. Danburite reminds you that, when you change your thoughts, you really can change your life.

Monday Musings—and on time this week, too! Did you miss me last week? No one said anything... Today's deck is the Eight Coins Tattoo Tarot by Lana Zellner. This is rapidly becoming one of my go-to decks. The art always reveals a new angle of interpretation for me, and I find that very useful when I'm using the cards to have a conversation with myself.

Things are starting to really busy themselves here at The Keep, with me making it a point to get some studio time in every day, as well as doing some writing, and finding time to amble through the village and surrounding countryside in preparation for Hadrian's Wall, which is rapidly approaching! I'm just the messenger.. I'm still offering private readings, too, so if you want to know a little more about what the universe has in store for you, hit me up. "I'm here to help."
Picture
Left: Seven of Wands
It may not be any surprise to you guys that we're heading into another Mercury retrograde. Now, you'd think that we'd be used to these by now, after all, they happen around three times a year. However, there's always something that seems to cause twitterpations when Mercury is doing his backward dance through the skies. He's in his shadow period at the moment, and this means that those of you who are sensitive to this kind of stuff may be starting to get your knickers in a knot already (those who know me know yes, I resemble that remark). If this is your card for the week it's showing you that the confrontations and complications that a retrograde Mercury have to offer may already be creating some discomfort in your life. Do not back down from what you know to be right. Do not walk away from what you know to be true. Do not buckle when someone challenges you. As the Desiderata says, "You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars, you have a right to be here." Of course, so does everyone else, so don't forget that when you're facing the storm and holding your ground! Sometimes the fight just isn't worth it—but if it is, don't let a lack of confidence steal your thunder.
Middle: Eight of Cups
This card has spoken to me quite loudly these last few weeks. It keeps making regular appearances in my daily tarot meditations that I do for myself. If this is your card for the upcoming week, it is a sure message from the universe to start seeking more. Do not settle for adequate when you can have fantastic. Walk away from what isn't working, no matter how good it may look, for something better is just around the corner and you have to make room for it in your life. Yes, it may mean some time in the wilderness, but that's how you find your path. Yes, it may mean that you spend some time alone, but you don't have to be lonely. It's time to get real, to leave whatever is standing in your way behind you, and take that leap of faith.
Right: Queen of Cups
The suit of cups always represents water and the sea of emotions to me. The Queen is a wise and compassionate woman, she is the mum who always had cookies and the grandma who always had hugs, and the auntie who threatened to throw flour on you if you insisted on misbehaving in her kitchen! She's creative and intuitive and if this is the card you picked, it's a message that you need to tap into your intuition, for it is stronger than you think, and use your creativity, for you are more ingenious than you realize. Feeling stuck, feeling inertia, feeling that 'something' needs to change? The Queen is assuring you that you have what it takes to make those changes. Quieten your mind and open your heart and let the energy flow. You'll realize that the solution to the issue lies in the same bed as the problem.

Monday Musings! Today's deck is Caitlin Matthews's Celtic Wisdom Oracle. How can you look at those orange cards and be blue—even if it is Monday! I don't know where you are, but here around The Keep and the Kilndom, we're having amazing weather. It's balmy and pleasant and good for long walks to prepare for the Hadrian's Wall Hike, but I do have to admit I'm getting impatient for swimming pool days!

Last week saw some action in many ways; walking, glazing, cleaning out the studio, cleaning out the garage, and more. This week is a busy one, too, lots to do, the days are long and enticing me to be productive. What will they bring to you? Monthly forecast? Weekly forecast? Daily forecast? It's up to you, you know the drill! Pick the one that calls to you, then read the reveal in the comments for a mini-reading for the week ahead, or read them all as a story-telling spread. Your reading, Your call. I'm just the messenger.. I'm still offering private readings, too, so if you want to know a little more about what the universe has in store for you, hit me up. "I'm here to help."
Picture
Left: The Courtship of Skill
You've been waiting for your ship to come in and only ever met with the tied, but if this is your card for the upcoming week, then that luck is about to change. This is a card that represents rewards for your efforts. It's more than wishes come true; this is something you've worked for and you've earned and you're finally seeing the results. It's not time to rest on your laurels, though, oh no. If anything says 'keep going,' this card does. Yes, you're seeing success, but there's more to come. Don't stop just because you're onto a good thing!
Middle: The Keeper
The Keeper does just that; he keeps order. He's the ruler, the leader, the authoritarian. If you chose this card, then it is telling you that it is not time to be a maverick or to step too far out of your comfort zone this week. It's a time for keeping things in an orderly fashion, to keep an eye on the things—and the people—that matter to you, and to stay strong in your sense of self-worth and self-assurance. Stay in your lane, for haters are always gonna hate and losers are always gonna lose until they decide not to. You can't govern their actions, but you have absolute control over the way you respond to them.
Right: The Quest of Battle
If you've been worried about something, if you've been thinking that things couldn't get any worse, well, you're probably right. This card shows you that yes, life sucks sometimes, but your track record of getting through the suck zone is 100% so far, so don't blot your copy book. As a weekly card, the Quest of Battle is asking you to pause, acknowledge how lousy you feel, forget the Law of Attraction and just be real. When you realize that life doesn't always play fair and you're more resilient than you think you are, suddenly everything does not seem to be so gloomy. There's a season for everything, and whatever sucky thing you're going through has its season, so let it be what it is, but remember that you will never be stuck there unless you choose to be—and that would just be silly, wouldn't it?!

Memorial Day Monday Musings (that's Bank Hol Musings for you across t'pond lol). Today's deck is one that has always captivated me, but one I don't use frequently, the Quantum Tarot by Kay Stopforth and Chris Butler. It's an interesting deck that features images from the Hubble Telescope along with some pretty interesting ideas when it comes to the interpretation. It's also one that sometimes has me scratching my head, which is usually a good thing, because then I learn something!
This last week has been full of an interesting roller coaster of emotions, but then, that's pretty much what last week's Monday Musings hinted! This week is a busy one, lots to do, the days are long and enticing me to be productive. What will they bring to you? Monthly forecast? Weekly forecast? Daily forecast? It's up to you, you know the drill! Pick the one that calls to you, then read the reveal in the comments for a mini-reading for the week ahead, or read them all as a story-telling spread. LEFT: The Hanged Man
The Hanged Man asks you what you need to surrender in order to be all you can be. According to the Quantum Tarot, this is a card that embraces the Uncertainty Principle,  which is really kind of cool when you start to dive into it and contemplate how it applies to your life. It is impossible to simultaneously measure both the mass and the velocity of an object, and this can be translated into your daily life in that it is impossible to predict everything that is going to influence you (that's rich, coming from a psychic, eh, but those who truly understand what being intuitive mean will sooo get this one, ha ha). If this is your card for the week, it is a reminder that there is always going to be that element of uncertainty around you and around others in your life. Yes, some of those events may turn your life upside down, but that does not always have to be a bad thing. The way forward is to take everything as it comes, neither fear it nor embracing it, but—like the Hanged Man—put yourself out there and just see what transpires. As my daddy used to say about  the weather, "Don't like it? Stick around, it will change!"
MIDDLE: The Hermit
The Hermit is a card of introspection, and asks you where do you need to shine your light so you can see who you truly are? In the Quantum Tarot, this is a card that deals with subatomic particles. It's asking you to scratch the surface and see what lies underneath. If this is your card for the week, it is a message to go deeper—and that might not be pleasant, for we all have things that we try to hide, we all have aspects of ourselves that we don't want to face up to, never mind let anyone else see! This card is asking you to take a long hard look within yourself, beyond what you present to others and beyond what you already know about yourself. It's time to find the deeper truth, and in doing so, open yourself up to a richer life experience.
RIGHT: The 4 of Wands
In the Rider Waite Tarot, the Four of Wands is a card of celebration. According to the Quantum Tarot, it is a card of Electroweak Unified Force—and yes, I had to look that up to know what it means! It's actually kind of cool, for when you get into the physics of this, it's confirming that things that seem dissimilar are more alike the closer they are to each other. The question this card asks what are you working to successfully integrate. If this is your card for the upcoming week, it is a sign that there is some unification going on, it is reassuring you that the two seemingly different aspects can find a common ground, you just need to bring them closer to see the similarities. The more you look at where the harmonies, rather than the differences are, the more you can bring that unity into all areas of your life.

Monday Morning Musings, and dear gods there's a lot on my mind this day! I'm using the Eight Coins Tattoo Tarot by Lana Zellner. This is the deck I've been employing when doing my nightly meditations, and it's really speaking to me at the moment!
This last week has been full of beginnings and endings, of laughter and tears, and of a reminder that life is precious and awesome, even in the challenging times. The cards seem to reflect that today!

Left: The Hierophant
This is really interesting, for this has come up a lot in the last few weeks in the personal one-on-one readings that I do for others. Basically the message is one of continuing to learn. If this is your card for the week, look for ways to push your boundaries a bit, and get out of your comfort zone. It's a fantastic time to review what you want out of life and look into learning something new or improving a current skill or interest. The Hierophan is a card of bettering yourself, but it is also a card of discipline.. He's also a reminder that sometimes the old ways, the tried and true ways, the ways of the ancestors, are a better way of doing things than the newfangled ideas pushed on us by the marketing gurus. Sometimes the 'next big thing' is merely a diversion to distract you from what your heart knows you should be doing. This card is telling you to knuckle down, take control of your decisions and your responsibilities, then spread your wings. As the quote goes, "What if I fall?" "Oh, but darling, what if you fly?"
Middle: The Ten of Swords
Not a very nice card, is it? If you chose this card as your message for the week, it's actually bringing you some reassurance. It's telling you that you've turned the corner and things are going to start to improve from now. It's acknowledging your pain, it's recognizing your sorrow, and it's promising that you're on your way out of the turmoil and heartache. A new day is dawning, one where you can leave all of this betrayal and upset behind you. It's telling you to look your future squarely in the face, and walk toward the sunrise just over the dark hills. Let things rest, and do not become a victim to your circumstances. It's not what happens to you that is important. It is how you respond to it. Rather than asking why this is happening to you, ask what it is here to teach you. You'll be surprised at the answers.
Right: King of Swords
He's a bit fierce looking, isn't he? If this is your card for the week ahead, it's a message that it is time to apply logic and reason to what you're doing, and maybe to let your head rule your heart. It's a time to get butt-naked and honest with yourself, and not to let your emotions get in the way of what you know you need to do. This may represent someone who can give you wise counsel, or it may also represent a higher—rational and sensible—aspect of yourself. He's assuring you that you have the mindset to do what you need to bring about the changes that you want to see, but you're going to have to be disciplined and responsible to get results, and that doesn't always mean things will be fun. It's okay. There's a time for work and a time for play. This is the time to get serious about what you want to achieve.
