Today's Monday Musings are brought to you by The Flower Speaks oracle by Marlene Rudgingsky, being as how it is springing forth, now, or at least trying to. I've got buds and shoots happening in the yarden, but I'm still bloody cold! Monthly forecast? Weekly forecast? Daily forecast? It's up to you, you know the drill! Pick the one that calls to you for a mini-reading for the week ahead, or read them all as a story-telling spread. Your reading, Your call. I'm just the messenger.

Shameless plug for my own endeavors and a reminder that I'm still offering private readings, too, so if you want to know a little more about what the universe has in store for you, hit me up. There's 20% off astrology and numerology readings until the 28th of March, use code RETRO20 at checkout, and if you get stuck anywhere during the process, shoot me a line. "I'm here to help."
Picture
Left: Sunflower
This is a card of leadership. Ride the crest of that wave! If you chose this for your card of the week, your confidence is high. You can do anything you set your mind to achieving. If you're asked to assume a position of authority, take it, for you more than have the capability. Never forget that others are watching you, they're learning through you. Lead by example, particularly this week and particularly after Thursday (no that's not random, yes, there''s a reason for it). Just make sure that you create time in your life for you and the things that are important to you, for when Sunflower appears, it's easy to spread yourself too thinly and take things too earnestly. Be serious about your commitments and obligations, sure, but never about yourself.
Middle: Orchid
This is a card of abundance. In my day job I've been writing a lot about the Law of Attraction, and while I think that a lot of the new-agey stuff out there about the LOA is garbage, there is some validity in this tenet. Like energy always attracts like energy and if you are down on yourself and you're focusing on what is going wrong and what you don't have, then that's the reality in which you're going to live. Orchid is reminding you that abundance is an energy, and all energy needs to flow or it becomes stagnant. If this is your card, it's reminding you that there is always something to be thankful for, there's always some kernel of positive energy in every situation. If you're not seeing it, then you're not looking hard enough. Let your thoughts be a channel through which positive energy can flow, and manifest the abundance that is waiting for you to realize how close it is.
Right: Bleeding Heart
I absolutely adore bleeding hearts and I just wish they would grow in my yarden, but that's another story. This is a card of sacrifice, but you have to remember that one definition of sacrifice is to make something holy by giving it away. Sacrifice is a pause, a consideration, a release of energy. What do you need to release? What are you hanging onto that is cluttering up your space, or bringing you down, or inhibiting your progress? What is in your life that is not bringing you joy, yet you're still attached to it? That's where the sacrifice comes in. Whether it's clinging to a toxic relationship, holding onto stuff you don't use, or carrying on with a system of belief that no longer feeds you, it's time to let go. Doing so opens up the space for new energy. Why not surrender to the changes and let that void be filled with the Orchid's energy of Abundance?

Mid-March Monday Musings! I hope you all survived the Ides and have resumed your normal nationality after yesterday's shenanigans.  Last week I introduced you to the Eight Coins Tattoo Tarot cards by Lana Zeller, and I've enjoyed using them in my journal daily draw so much that I'm sharing them with you again.

Left: The Tower
Not the most friendly looking card in the deck. If you have chosen the Tower as your card for the week, this is a very blatant reminder that you have to tear down what is not working if you want to rebuild something better. It's not as dire as it seems. The tower is cracking and burning but the foundations are still strong, and they're not going anywhere. The fire consuming the tower is also the fire of illumination. It's the cleansing fire that purifies and tempers. My pottery has to go through the fires of the kiln to transform from mud to vessel. This is also a reminder that you cannot plan for everything. Sometimes the best of intentions go up in smoke beyond your control. It's not what happens that is important, it's how you respond to it that matters.
Middle: The Ace of Wands
Wands represent action and movement, and all aces are indicative of new beginnings. If you chose this card, then it's time to make your move. Of course, Mercury is still retrograde, so I'd not make any life-changing lurches forward, but it's certainly time to get your plans together and work out exactly where you want to go next. You need to exercise your creativity in some way. Mercury retrograde is the perfect time to reflect on what and how. Pisces is the perfect Sun sign to link this to your spiritual well being. Remember, at the moment, this is potential. It's up to you to make it a reality. It's interesting because as the Left card was the tower burning down, now this card has the rebuilt tower in the background.
Right: Five of Cups
This card frequently appears when things haven't worked out as they should, and you get caught in the disappointment. If this is your card, it's a reminder that life ebbs and flows. There will always be things that fall apart, there will always be people who let you down, but you can't stay there, you have to dust yourself off and move forward. If you look at the cards, yes, three cups are upturned, and spilling, but two cups are upright, and they still hold their contents. The same fire that illuminated the way through the tower in the left hand card is the fire that burns in the flame of the candle. It's the same illumination. Give yourself time to grieve over what has been lost, but don't wallow there. Look at the tower, it's there again in the window. Keep looking at what is still standing, and what allow that and the light of the candle to be your motivation to continue.

So, here we are, the 2nd Monday of March for our Monday Musings, and the first musings for Mercury retrograde—or, wrecktrograde, as I prefer to call it.

Last week I invested in some new cards, something I've not done in a long long time. I invested in a new deck. I don't know where I initially saw these images, but they really struck a chord with me. The cards are by Lana Zellner, and the deck is called the Eight Coins Tattoo Tarot. The deck is very reasonably priced, so I indulged. I am not disappointed! The images are striking as you will see, and in the full color book which is included in the boxed set the author has given some noteworthy interpretations of the cards that even teach this old dog new tricks when it comes to understanding their depth. I hereby share this with you!  This week's layout was interesting, as you'll see in the reveal. Can we say 'theme,' anyone?!

Monthly forecast? Weekly forecast? Daily forecast? It's up to you, you know the drill! Pick the one that calls to you for a mini-reading for the week ahead, or read them all as a story-telling spread. When I do four-card readings, I like to assign them the themes of distant past, recent past, present, and future; or perhaps in this case, you might choose first week, second week, third week, last week, to give you insight as to what the month might hold. Spring, summer, autumn, winter is another permutation. Your reading, Your call. I'm just the messenger.

Shameless plug for my own endeavors and a reminder that I'm still offering private readings, too, so if you want to know a little more about what the universe has in store for you, hit me up. There's 20% off astrology and numerology readings from 5th to 28th of March, use code RETRO20 at checkout, and if you get stuck anywhere during the process, shoot me a line. "I'm here to help."

LEFT: the Eight of Cups
To me, this card always says to walk away from something that isn't working, no matter how appealing it may be.  If you chose this card, then this is a sign that something you're attached to is unfulfilling, unrewarding, or unsatisfactory in some way, and it's time to start moving onto something better. Because of the Mercury retrograde I'd add the note don't do it yet; make your plans this month so you can act on them in the future, but it's time to start making the break, even if it's just in your mind. This card is asking you what brings you joy, and to pursue that, to walk away from your attachments, to surrender what is good for something that in the long run will be much better. Of course, before you can do that, you have to face why you're lingering, you have to dig deep into your psyche and work out why you may be avoiding the change. Mercury retro is a fantastic time to do just that.
Center: Page of Cups
This is a new interpretation of the traditional Rider Waite card, and I like her style! If this is your card, it's time to contemplate something new. Remember, Mercury is retrograde for just over another fortnight, so make plans, rather than act on them. The Page promises the time for action will be here soon enough! This card is asking you to explore a new facet of yourself, to go deeper into your personal power, and it brings a message to trust your intuition and your creativity. It's a sign from the universe to look for 'coincidence' (I prefer synchronicity) that point you to the right direction, toward the desires of your heart. Those desires—along  with your skills and talents were put there before you were even born to lead you to your highest happiness, your deepest fulfillment, and your greatest success. All Page cards are messengers—be open to what you're about to hear.
Right: Ten of Cups
This is the 'And they all lived happily ever after" card in the tarot. If you chose this card, you are being encouraged to trust your heart for it knows where it's going. You know the old saying, "If it feels good do it?" Well, this card is encouraging you to do it, and do it big style. Do it until you're so happy you can hardly stand yourself, then do it some more and rain that joy down on others like a spring thunderstorm. Your heart is your inner compass and this card is asking you to use it and trust it, for—as with the previous card—the desires of your heart were put there to lead you to your destiny. This card promises you that if you can trust your heart enough to step into that vision, you will be at peace with your world, and celebrate every day with wholeness and gratitude.

The first Monday Musings for the month of March are brought to you once again by my go-to deck, The Tarot of the Cloisters, by Michelle Leavit. I adore this deck, for each card has 360° of interpretation, and the lines on the stained glass highlight different areas of these beautifully designed and colored cards. We had a bit of a conversation over on my Facebook wall last week about how some of us (me included) tended to pick the same position every week, so this week I thought I'd be a smartass and lay out a different spread. Take that, you creatures of habit!

TOP LEFT: Six of Vessels (Cups)
This card is all about nostalgia, and if you look at its angle, it's nearly right way up. If you have chosen this card, you're nearly to some goal, and that goal probably has to do with something that is comforting and soothing. Perhaps you've got a reunion with some old friends or family you have not seen for quite some time coming up, or maybe you're working through scrapbooks and memorabilia. This card can also point to you slowing down to the speed of life and going back to the things that gave you pleasure before the world got so big and life got so busy. If this is your card for today's reading, it's a message to simplify. Start seeing life through the eyes of a child again, no matter how old you are. That childlike perception brings you happiness, anticipation, and an appreciation for the little things that are so often overlooked once we're told we have to behave like adults.
TOP RIGHT: King of Vessels (Cups)
This card is slightly off center, but that does not necessarily mean that things are about to turn on their head—although with Mercury stationing retrograde in Pisces tomorrow, it might! The good news is that Mercury turns retro every few months and we've kind of got used to it, so you've got time to straighten this guy up and not let things wobble too much. Remember, you have free will and not even the angels themselves can take that from you. If you chose this card, then the king is asking you, "Is it necessary? Is it true? Is it kind?" If you can remember those questions before you act—good advice at any time but particularly during this planetary weather—then you should be able to keep the energy upright and avoid things going too caddywompus.
BOTTOM LEFT: Queen of Pentacles
Yet another court card who's wobbling a bit. If this is your card she's asking you to straighten up. That impulse buy? Rethink it. You have enough yarn! Have you filed your taxes? Better get on that. This is a very positive card on the whole but you don't want to let her go spinning out of control and land on her head. She's assuring you that you have enough, but not so much that you can be inattentive or reckless. Pay attention—and again, that Mercury retrograde energy is influencing this. My mum had a saying, "Look after the pennies and the pounds (£) will take care of themselves." This is the Queen's message for you. This is the perfect time to rethink your budget, review your expenditures, and revise your financial plans, so that you keep her upright and functioning, and you're prepared for unexpected events that might turn her on her head.
BOTTOM RIGHT: The Sun
Well, trust the most positive card in the spread to be nearly on its head! The good news is, if this is your card, that you have the energy to deal with whatever situation you're going through, that there are brighter days and better times so close you can taste them. If you've been thinking of stretching yourself with some kind of new activity, use this month to polish your ideas. The Sun says 'do it,' the fact that it's nearly upside down says 'not quite yet.' There are aspects of your plans that need to be refined—and all those 're' words like rethink, reflect, refine, revise, they're perfect words for Mercury retrograde.  The contrary placing of this card (which is a fancy way of saying it's on its head) means that you may be too optimistic or eager in your enthusiasm to get ahead, and that could be y our undoing. The Sun is never a negative card; however, it is asking you to take your time to reap the benefits that it has in store for you.
